Former Lake County Undersheriff Indicted on Seven Charges (Update)
LEADVILLE, CO – Former Lake County Undersheriff, Fernando Mendoza, was indicted on seven counts on Monday, December 11, 2017 by the Fifth Judicial District Grand Jury. The Indictment charges include: Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Child (F4), Attempt to Commit First Degree Aggravated Incest (F4), Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4), Attempt to Commit Invasion of Privacy for Sexual Gratification (F5), Embezzlement of Public Property (F5), and, two counts of Second Degree Official Misconduct (PO1).

Today, in Lake County District Court, the Defendant was in custody and appeared with counsel. He was advised of the charges against him. Judge Kathy Sullivan set cash or surety bond in the amount of $100,000.00, and entered conditions of any release on bond to include: No contact with children under the age of 18, and no contact with any alleged victim.

Mendoza’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 23, 2018, at 1:30pm in Lake County District Court.
