DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE HAS OPENED INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGED OFFICER MISCONDUCT IN LAKE COUNTY

LEADVILLE, COLORADO – The Office of the District Attorney has opened an investigation into
alleged officer misconduct occurring in Lake County on February 24, 2017 at approximately
10:00 P.M at 150 Highway 300, Leadville. The investigation will include an analysis of video
taken by a civilian, reports of officers and interviews with witnesses.

The investigation was opened today upon the receipt of a video that apparently was taken during the
course of an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s office by a civilian. The opening of an
investigation is not a comment upon the actions of those involved but a typical step in matters
involving use of force. It is not believed that any serious injury resulted from the episode.

Further information will be released to the public as the investigation warrants, including at the
conclusion of the investigation.
